New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday wished Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Mulayam Singh Yadav on his 76th birthday.

The PM tweeted: "Birthday wishes to Mulayam Singh Yadav ji. I pray for his long life & great health."



The SP chief's birthday celebrations kickstarted yesterday with a 76 kilo cake cutting and a cultural extravaganza, including a performance by Oscar-winning composer AR Rahman.


The guest list includes almost everybody who is somebody - from former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda to Lalu, and from Bollywood stars Amitabh Bachchan, Salman Khan and Hrithik Roshan to business tycoons.


Besides Mulayam's family, others who attended the event included Amar Singh.


The three-day bash is being held at Saifai, around 200km from state capital Lucknow.
