New Delhi: President Pranab Mukherjee on Thursday greeted the people of the Republic of Guinea on the eve of their National Day.

In his message to his counterpart Alpha Conde, Mukherjee said: "Warm greetings and felicitations on the occasion of your National Day. Our two countries enjoy warm and friendly relations."

Mukherjee said he was confident that the bilateral relations of the two countries would be strengthened further in the future to the benefit of the people.

The Republic of Guinea declared its independence from France on October 2, 1958.
