In a bid to ensure its victory Uttar Pradesh Assembly Elections, Congress may give one-fourth of tickets to Brahmins.

Reportedly, this is the plan designed to strengthen Congress outreach to the Brahmin community through the projection of Sheila Dikshit as chief ministerial candidate, according to a report in TOI.

Why this '25% tickets to Brahmins' plan?

Congress feels that the mega outreach will find favour with Brahmins and improve the party's thin base in the state.

Earlier, ending speculation, Sheila Dikshit was on July 14 named by Congress as its chief ministerial candidate for next year's Assembly polls in politically crucial Uttar Pradesh

Election strategist Prashant Kishor had recommended that Dikshit should play a major role in the party's poll campaign in the state projecting her as a prominent Brahmin face and could help Congress regain support of the electorally sizeable community.
