Suresh Prabhu, Chidambaram, Sharad Yadav, Ram Jethmalani elected to Rajya Sabha

Mumbai: Union Power Minister Piyush Goyal and senior Congress leader and former finance minister P Chidambaram were on Friday elected unopposed to the Rajya Sabha from Maharashtra.

As none of the six candidates for as many RS seats pulled out, all were elected to the Upper House, a senior Vidhan Bhawan official said.
Others elected are former union minister Praful Patel (NCP), BJP's Vinay Sahasrabuddhe and Vikas Mahatme, and Shiv Sena's Sanjay Raut, who had filed their papers for the biennial elections.
Meanwhile, Railway Minister Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu and Union Minister of State for Science and Technology Y Satyanarayana Chowdary were elected unopposed to the Rajya Sabha from Andhra Pradesh.
Two other candidates T G Venkatesh and V Vijaysai Reddy have also been elected unopposed in the biennial election to the Council of States.
From Bihar, JD(U) leader Sharad Yadav, noted lawyer Ram Jethmalani, RJD chief's daughter Misa Bharti and BJP's Gopal Narayan Singh have been elected unopposed.
