As per reports, intelligence agencies have warned that terror groups like the Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) and the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) could join hands to carry out a drone attack at the Red Fort, from where the Prime Minister will address the nation on the morning of August 15.

Intelligence officials suspect the attack could be carried out during the PM's speech.

The threat was disclosed during a high-level meeting of the Prime Minister's security wing.

As per the input, the planning for such an attack is being done by the two terror groups with active support from Pakistan's notorious intelligence agency, the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).

Intelligence sleuths came to know about the suspected plan through intercepts of telephone conversations between terrorists based in India and Pakistan.

The intercepts also led intelligence officials to conclude that the terrorists could also carry out attacks ahead of the Independence Day.

The likely targets for such attacks could be convoys and camps of the Indian Army and other security forces.

Meanwhile, in order to beef up the PM's security, the Special Protection Group (SPG) has proposed to cover the area from where the PM will deliver his Independence Day speech with an overhead bullet-proof canopy.

It is also being planned to install high-resolution cameras on Red Fort's towers to keep an eye on every movement in and around the Red Fort.

If in the coming days the threat perception increases, then an air defence gun could also be deployed at the historic fort.

Like each year, Delhi would turn into a no-fly zone and fighter jets of the Indian Air Force would be on standby to deal with any emergency.
