According to a report in Deccan Herald, over 1000 passengers of 12423 Dibrugarh-New Delhi Rajdhani Express had a narrow escape when one of the three brothers, who were waiting for a local train at the platform, spotted a one-met re-long gap in the tracks. The train does not have stoppage at the station and was supposed to pass directly.

With just few minutes left for the train to arrive and absence of any railway person nearby, the three brothers jumped into the action and used a torch and a red colour towel (Gamchha) to send an emergency signal to the train's driver.

Following this signal, the driver applied emergency brakes and managed to stop the train just few feet before the missing track.

Based on the preliminary investigation, it is believed that tracks were damaged after Kamla-Ganga Inter-city Express crossed through the route. Railway authorities have ordered a probe to find out the exact reason behind the lapse.

Meanwhile, the Railway Police have decided the to felicitate the brave brothers, who's timely action saved several lives.
