United States Defence Secretary Ashton Carter will arrive in India today on his three-day visit to boost strategic ties between both nations.
New Delhi: United States Defence Secretary Ashton Carter will arrive in India today on his three-day visit to boost strategic ties between both nations.
Carter, who will be arriving here on the invitation of Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar, will first visit Goa and then fly to Delhi two days later.
During his visit, he will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval among others.
Carter on the eve of his visit said India is already a very influential and powerful force in the whole Indo Asia Pacific region, starting with the Indian Ocean.
This is his second trip to India in less than a year and the last in US President Barack Obama's regime.
Carter has said that his trip would be an step in implementing some of the key decisions being taken by President Obama and
Prime Minister Modi in the last two years.
Defence technology, trade initiative and a host of other areas will feature in discussion between both nations.
