US wants to be India`s best friend: Vice-President Biden
United States Vice-President Joe Biden has said their goal is to become India`s best friend and both the nations should work together as strategic partners to bring about a safer and prosperous world.
Washington: United States Vice-President Joe Biden has said their goal is to become India`s best friend and both the nations should work together as strategic partners to bring about a safer and prosperous world.
"Our goal is to become India`s best friend. The President and I, and the entire administration believe that the India-US relationship will be a relationship that will go a long way in defining the findings of the 21st century," said Biden, while speaking at the 40th leadership Summit of US-India Business Council (USIBC).
"There is no reason why the two largest democracies should not continue to have increasingly better and more productive relationship. The two nations should work together as strategic partners to bring about a safer and a more prosperous world," he added.
"It`s no longer about what we can do for India, it`s about what we can do with India, what we can do together," he stressed.
Biden further assured that they will do everything they can to support Prime Minister Narendra Modi`s ambitious economic reforms.
"We will do everything we can to support Prime Minister Modi`s ambitious economic reforms and his understanding that no nation should have to choose between prosperity and sovereignty," said Biden.
"There is so much potential for trade and investment in both the countries, therefore, we need to see more reforms. We need to stay together to counter terrorism and counter violent extremism," he added.
The US Vice-President also said that the convergence of India` Act East and US` rebalancing to Asia is a very good news not only for the region but for the world as well.
