Political strategist Prashant Kishor has been roped in by the Congress to boost its fortunes in Uttar Pradesh ahead of next year`s assembly elections.
Lucknow:Political strategist Prashant Kishor has been roped in by the Congress to boost its fortunes in Uttar Pradesh ahead of next year's assembly elections.
Kishor will attend a meeting of the Congress and its affiliates like Seva Dal, women's cell, National Students Union of India, Youth Congress and units dealing with minorities and others on April 21 and 22.
"So far, he has been trying to understand the internal structures of the party and doing his own SWOT analysis," a party leader told IANS. "This meeting is in line with this basic study."
Kishor is credited with devising the election strategy for Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the 2014 Lok Sabha election and for Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar in the assembly polls of November 2015.
He has now been assigned by the Congress to devise a strategy for the Punjab assembly polls likely to be held in February next year.
Congress sources here said Kishor had been assigned the task of reviving the party in Uttar Pradesh by its national leadership.
These meetings will also be attended by the Congress general secretary in-charge of Uttar Pradesh, Madhusudan Mistry, and Uttar Pradesh Congress president Nirmal Khatri among other leaders.
