Bharatiya Janata Party spokesperson Sambit Patra said every Muslim, whether he is a  Muslim or of any other religion should not hesitate in singing National Anthem.

Maulana Ansar Raza, President of Gharib Nawaz Foundation said that except few words in the National Anthem, Muslims do not have any objection in singing the National Anthem. Raza added that singing National Anthem should not be linked with patriotism as Muslims do not have objections in singing other patriotic songs. 


The debate was to discus the issue of Kazi Masum Akhtar, who was beaten for teaching National Anthem to Muslim students in a Madarsa in West Bengal nine months ago.


Akhtar, who teaches at Talpukur Ara High Madarsa in Metiabruz area of south-west Kolkata, is still awaiting justice.
