The announcement was made after separate meetings between Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, and Pakistan's Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his foreign affairs adviser Sartaj Aziz.

But what led to this sudden, big breakthrough?

As per sources, quoted by news agency ANI, India has got a sense from Pakistan that it is now serious in tackling the menace of terrorism.

As per sources, the meeting between national security advisers of India and Pakistan in Bangkok last weekend indicated that Pakistan is keen in tackling bilateral issues.

“Pakistan's acceptance that terror is an issue to be dealt with strongly, and categorical assurance from the Pakistani leadership (on tackling terrorism) led to resumption of the bilateral dialogue. All this also shows a change and seriousness in Pakistan's attitude in dealing with terror,” sources added.
