Fierce gunbattle underway in Machil sector in Kupwara, Army jawan injured

A fierce gunbattle is currently underway in Machil sector in Kupwara in which as Army jawan has been injured.

Kupwara: A fierce gunbattle is currently underway at the Machil sector along the LoC in Kashmir's Kupwara district on Tuesday.

According to reports, an army jawan has sustained injuries in the ongoing gunbattle here.

Soldiers of 56 Rashtriya Rifles, who were manning the LoC, intercepted a militant group at Katwara forest area near Jet Gali in Machil sector this morning.

After being challenged, the suspected militants opened fire on the forces, triggering off an encounter.

In the initial exchange of gunfight, a soldier sustained injuries and was been immediately airlifted to Army's 92 base hospital for treatment.

When reports last came in, the exchange of gunfight was still going on.
