Jammu: Services of the Jammu and Kashmir State Road Transport Corporation (SRTC) were badly hit on Wednesday as the employees went on a strike demanding immediate implementation of the 6th Pay Commission scales. Led by General Secretary Paramjit Singh, over 250 staffers, including drivers and conductors, assembled at the organisation`s headquarters here where they sat on a dharna against the government`s alleged failure to grant them benefits under the 6th Pay Commission. Both intra and inter-state public transport services were affected by the strike. Singh told reporters that their protest was also over the government`s non-payment of dearness allowance for years. "Unless the government fulfils our demand within a week, we will resort to an indefinite strike. The government will be responsible for losses and problems caused to people on account of the strike," Singh warned.
