Militant killed in encounter in Kupwara

Srinagar: An unidentified militant was killed in an overnight encounter with security forces in north Kashmir's Kupwara district.

The ultra was killed in a gunbattle with security forces in Sheikhpura area of Lalpora, 100 kms from here, an Army official said today.

He said the operation was in progress when reports last came in.

Security forces launched a massive search operation in Sheikhpura village yesterday following a brief exchange of firing with the militants.
