Bengaluru: At least twelve persons are said to be feared drowned after a coracle carrying more than 20 people capsized in Tungabadra river in Shivamogga district on Wednesday.

Rescue personnel have rescued one body till now from the Tungabhadra river after the coracle capsized during the immersion of Ganesh idol. 


The incident took place today afternoon. 


As per the report, the coracle capsized as the currents were very strong. Visuals captured by some of locals showed the coracle capsizing. According to locals, many people on the coracle did not know how to swim.


According to another report, at least five persons who were on the oracle swam to safety.
