Bengaluru: The Bengaluru Police on Tuesday arrested a key accused in the serial blasts that rocked Karnataka churches during June-July 2000.

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) nabbed accused, Sheikh Amir alias Amir Ali -- a member of terror outfit Deendar Anjuman -- from Hyderabad.


Amir Ali is a resident of Nalgonda in Telangana.


The blasts, occurred in June-July 2000 in Bengaluru, Hubli and Wadi, were carried out by the Deendar Channabasaveshwara Anjuman outfit founded in 1920s and the 'conspiracy' was hatched at Hyderabad on October 1999.


The outfit was founded by one Hazarat Moulana Siddique alias Deendar Channabasaveshwara.


So far, 29 people have been convicted in the case.
