Coimbatore: The first Broad Gauge train service on Palakkad Town-Pollachi Railway line will start operations from November 16.

The trains will start at 4.30 AM from both Palakkad and Pollachi junction. The Broad Guage line was ready for regular train services after clearance given by the Commissioner, Railway Safety about a fortnight ago, a Southern Railway release said tonight.


Train services will be extended over this section to be operated as special trains for the time being. There will not be any official function, in this regard, it said.


It said Tiruchchirappalli-Palakkad Town-Tiruchirapalli passenger will run as Special Train between Palakkad Town and Pollachi.


The Thiruvananthapuram-Palakkad Town-Thiruvananthapuram Amritha Express will run as Express Special Train between Palakkad town and Pollachi.


The Tiruchendur-Palani-Tiruchendur passenger now running as special train between Palani and Pollachi,will continue to run as Special Train between Pollachi and Palakkad Town, it said.
