Lucknow: As the key leaders of Samajwadi Party bitterly fought in Lucknow on Monday, Mulayam Singh Yadav's long-time aide Amar Singh “spent some very casual moments in Kolkata”.

According to Firstpost, Singh also joked about political turmoil in Uttar Pradesh.


The leader, who is highly disliked by UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, met with some editors at the office of Kolkata's regional daily and participated in a television show with former cricketer Virender Sehwag.


Not only this, Amar Singh even tasted golgappas and kulfi in Chowringhee marketplace.


Firstpost further reported that there were also rumours of the SP leader attending a special prayer in Kolkata.


Whereas in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh's ruling Samajwadi Party was in turmoil as party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav publicly pulled up his son and Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav at a meeting which ended on a fiery note with sacked minister Shivpal Yadav calling Akhilesh a "liar".


At a crucial meeting, Akhilesh Yadav blamed Amar Singh for causing fresh troubles in the party.


However, Mulayam came to Amar Singh's rescue and called him his brother.


The Samajwadi Party chief is said to have brokered peace between his son, Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and the party's Uttar Pradesh unit president Shivpal Yadav.
