Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan is on an eight-day tour of United States, where he will meet World Bank officials and hold discussions on various issues of social welfare.
During his visit, Chouhan will hold parlays on issues like health, education, social security, drinking water, rural and urban development and transport with officials of the international financial institution, official sources said. The World Bank will also organise a programme in honour of Chouhan, who leaves for the trip Saturday evening.
Later, he will take part in a programme organised by the Indian Embassy in Washington. The Chief Minister will make a presentation in Stanford University`s Hoover Institution on the issue of women`s empowerment and their direct involvement in socio-economic development programmes, they said.
He will meet the International Finance Corporation (IFC) representatives and hold discussion on issues such as infrastructure development, non-conventional energy sources and public-private partnership in urban projects, they said.
The chief minister will address a gathering of the US India Business Council (USIBC) on the possibilities of investment in Madhya Pradesh, besides interacting with officials of American universities and Indian journalists.
He will visit Michigan University to meet industrialists from the state.
He will also pay a visit to the memorial of Swami Vivekanand in Chicago before return to New Delhi on October 8, the sources added.
