Maharashtra: Wife kills self after husband forced her to cook and eat meat

Palghar: A woman allegedly committed suicide in the Palghar district of Maharashtra after her husband forced her to meat, police said on Tuesday.

The incident is said to have taken place on Monday. 

The deceased was identified as Pooja Lukam, 22. 

Apparently, her husband, Dharmesh Lukam, 26, used to regularly force her to prepare non-vegetarian food at home and eat it against her wishes, Sub-inspector SB Kamble of Nala Sopara police station told PTI.

Fed up with her husband's 'demand', the woman hanged herself from the ceiling of her house yesterday. 

Police have filed a case of abetment to suicide against her husband.
