The officer claimed that this action led to a decline in underworld activities in 2015.

"We registered more than ten cases of Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA), 1999 and arrested more than 100 people of various gangs in 2015. We were successful in curbing the activities of the underworld," the officer said.

Police have been carrying out sustained operation against those possessing illegal weapons, he said adding, "In 2015, we registered 140 illegal firearm cases and arrested 270 accused in this connection. We seized about 170 illegal weapons and over 500 live cartridges."

The seizure is less in comparison to the previous years, which means our continuous action against selling of illegal arms, which are that brought here from different states, has yielded result, the officer claimed.
