Now, an investigation has found that red ants were to blame for the brake failure.

As per a report in the Indian Express, the probe found that the equipment malfunction likely happened due to corrosion of the brake panel caused by red ants.

Following the incident, the local train was taken to Kurla Car Shed for examination.

It was discovered during examination that red ants had found their way inside the brake panel and damaged the cable wires. This led to the brake failure.

The driver of the train had applied emergency brakes on discovering the malfunction of the regular brakes.
