Mumbai: Bhumata Brigade president Trupti Desai, who was barred from entering the Haji Ali Dargah on Thursday, asked BJP-led government if these were the achhe din women were promised.
Surrounded by several other women activists, Desai, who was heading to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis' residence, said, “We are going to meet the chief minister at his residence. Whether he meets us or not, we will go and do sit-in there.”
Explaining her stand on the issue, she said, “We have not acted in haste. The matter is subjudice in court since 2012. We are demanding equal right for women.”
As she reached the premises of the Dargah today, the Mumbai Police did not allow her to get down from her car at the main entrance.
Desai, however, made another attempt to enter, but was once again stopped.
