Chandigarh: BJP on Tuesday accused former Railway Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal and his kin of indulging in corruption and demanded "fair probe" by the CBI into this matter.
Stating this, senior BJP leader and former MP Kirit Somaiya charged that Bansal, Congress MP from Chandigarh and his relatives "have openly indulged in corruption." He announced the formation of a party committee named "Pawan Kumar Bansal Scam Exposure Committee" which would "investigate the extent of rot that Pawan Kumar Bansal and his family have spread during the last decade," he said.
The committee would comprise of BJP Chandigarh President Sanjay Tandon and Ex MP Satyapal Jain and will also have local tax consultants as its members, a party release said here this evening. This committee will present its report to the BJP within next 15 days.
Somaiya said the BJP has demanded a "fair investigation" by CBI in a timebound manner.
"If the CBI fails to do so, the BJP will approach the President of India and the court of law," he said.
Kirit Somaiya and Sanjay Tandon today submitted a 120 page report to the Registrar of Companies here, demanding inquiry into the alleged "bogus companies" formed by Bansal and his family.
The ROC informed the BJP delegates that the ministry of Company Affairs has already directed to check the balance sheets of almost 105 companies, the release claimed.
