Ahmednagar: Issuing an oblique attack on Aam Aadmi Party leader Arvind Kejriwal, former IPS officer and Anna Hazare`s aide Kiran Bedi on Monday said the Lokpal Bill tabled in Rajya Sabha was "certainly not a Jokepal".
Bedi, who was scheduled to return to New Delhi from Anna Hazare`s fast venue in Ralegan Siddhi, has cancelled her plans and decided to stay back with the anti-graft crusader, whose indefinite hunger strike to press for passage of the Jan Lokpal Bill in Parliament entered the seventh day today.
In an apparent reference to Aam Aadmi Party, the former IPS officer later tweeted that a broom (AAP’s election symbol) needs a supportive hand (Congress’ symbol).
Notably, the Congress has offered unconditional support to AAP should they be ready to form the next government in Delhi.
AAP emerged as the second largest party with 28 seats in the 70-member Delhi Assembly, just behind the BJP which finished on top with 31 seats on its own (plus one seat of its ally Akali Dal) but fell short of majority mark of 36.
Continuing her tirade against AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal, who dismissed the amended draft Lokpal bill presented in the Rajya Sabha as a "jokepal", Bedi said: “The broom is to sweep away the dirt and not the good! Broom if used for other purposes loses its utility!”. She added:
On Sunday, addressing a press conference in Ralegan Siddhi here, Hazare had said, "I accept it completely. If this Bill is passed, I will end my fast. The Bill will help the poor people of this country".
Kejriwal has expressed his opposition to the Bill and Hazare`s acceptance. "I`m really surprised. How can Anna accept sarkari Lokpal Bill? Sarkari Lokpal is a jokepal. Who is misguiding him?" he had said.
