`Delhi gang-rape` fashion shoot triggers outrage

New Delhi: A photo feature shot by an Indian photographer has triggered outrage after the images showed the model being harassed on a bus, in a grim reminder of the horrific 2012 Delhi gang-rape incident.
Shot by Mumbai photographer Raj Shetye, the series of images reportedly have been titled `The Wrong Turn`.
One of the images show a female model wearing high-end clothes attempting to fight off two male models on a row of seats while one of them is holding her down and another is holding her legs.
The photos led to nation wide outrage as it had chilling similarities with the tragic 2012 Delhi gang-rape case in which a 23-year-old paramedic student was brutally raped by five people on a moving bus after she boarded it with a male friend.
She succumbed to grievous injuries 10 days later at a hospital in Singapore.
The victim was called `Nirbhaya,` meaning fearless, by the Indian media as laws prevented the victim from being named.
Shetye has reportedly denied basing the photo-feature on the incident and said that the images depicted the situation of women in India.
The photos drew criticism on social media soon after they were uploaded on the photographer’s website. He later reportedly removed the pictures.
Bollywood music director Vishal Dadlani tweeted, `Did i just see a fashion-spread depicting the Delhi gangrape of Nirbhaya? Disgusting! I hope all associated, die of shame! Insensitive swine! (sic)`
Actor Amrita Puri tweeted: `Rape is not inspiration for a fashion shoot.I don`t know what the photographer was thinking doing an editorial shoot inspired by `Nirbhaya`.
