India one of the most violent countries in the world: Survey
The rising incidences of violence have put India among top spots in the Global Peace Index (GPI) Survey 2013 for most violent countries in the world.

Mumbai: The rising incidences of violence have put India among top spots in the Global Peace Index (GPI) Survey 2013 for most violent countries in the world.
India`s 141st ranking among 161 countries for least peaceful nations to live in is ironically an improvement as the country has improved its ranking by three places since the 2011 survey, as per a news report.
The survey reportedly highlights violence in the country stating loss of 799 lives in 2012, with at least two persons being killed each day. Central African Republic was named the most violent country and countries like Pakistan, Iraq, Afghanistan and South Sudan were also described as violent.
Iceland has emerged as the most peaceful country in the survey. The GPI ranks the countries on various measures including safety and security levels in the society and national and international conflict of the states.
