Dubai: A 30-year-old Indian working at a restaurant in Bahrain has been sentenced to two years in prison for manslaughter of a Saudi Arabian customer.
The Indian was arrested after he knocked down the customer, who suffered severe blow to his head and died due to a fractured skull two days later, Gulf Daily News reported. The worker, however, claimed that he only killed a customer in self-defence. He alleged that the customer first attacked him with a shoe when he refused to set him up with women.
However, the worker was found guilty of manslaughter yesterday by Bahrain`s High Criminal Court. Judges acquitted the defendant`s brother, who also works at the restaurant.
"The defendant confessed to the charges to prosecutors and his co-defendant`s (brother`s) testimony confirmed the incident had taken place," stated the court verdict.
