Monsoon likely to hit Kerala on June 02: IMD
The IMD had earlier predicted the date of June 03 for the monsoon onset with a model error of plus or minus four days.

New Delhi: The much awaited monsoon rains could hit Kerala by as early as this Sunday, i.e, June 02, said the India Meteorological Department.
The IMD had earlier predicted the date of June 03 for the monsoon onset with a model error of plus or minus four days. The normal date for onset over Kerala is June 1.
In its previous monsoon forecast, the IMD had also predicted a normal Monsoon this year with overall rainfall expected to be 98 per cent of the long period average.
The prediction made on May 15 was for an onset on June 3 with a model error of plus or minus four days. The Met Dept will declare the monsoon onset if Kerala rains continued for two days in a row, a newspaper report quoted a top official as saying.
