A helicopter service connecting Delhi and the holy town of Vrindavan in Uttar Pradesh has started.
Agra: A helicopter service connecting Delhi and the holy town of Vrindavan in Uttar Pradesh has started.
Jayant Choudhary, the MP and son of Civil Aviation Minister Ajit Singh, formally inaugurated the service here on Wednesday evening. Vrindavan`s eminent musician Acharya Jaimini welcomed the service.
Jaimini told a news agency that since a taxi hire from Delhi`s airport to Vrindavan costs Rs 3,000, "no one will mind paying Rs 3,700 for a chopper ride".
Meanwhile, the Jaipur-Agra Shatabdi Express had its maiden run on Wednesday.
But there was neither hype nor excitement about the new train. Hoteliers in Agra expressed concern that visitors would now return the same evening to Jaipur.
Rakesh Chauhan, the president of the Agra Hotels and Restaurants Association, said the timings of the Shatabdi should be changed. "It should come to Agra in the evening and leave in the morning, so that tourists stay overnight in the Taj city," he said.
