Kolkata: Congress president Sonia Gandhi has been voted as India`s most inspiring female political leader who has been able to strike a perfect balance between her career and family life, according to a survey.
In the survey held by matrimonial service portal Shaadi.Com, 36.2 per cent people voted for Sonia Gandhi, while BJP leader Sushma Swaraj was a close second with 33.6 per cent votes.
A release from Shaadi.Com said today that the survey was to understand which successful Indian women was admired for striking a perfect balance between career and family life.
Over 5,100 Indian women from different cities participated in the poll. In the corporate sector, Reliance`s Nita Ambani (35.6 per cent) was voted as the most successful businesswoman followed by Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw of Biocon, Chanda Kochchar of ICICI Bank and Shikha Sharma of Axis Bank.
In the field of sports, Mary Kom (33.5 per cent) was voted as the `Most Successful Sportstar` followed by Saina Nehwal, Sania Mirza and P V Sindhu.
From Bollywood, SRK`s wife Gauri Khan topped the list, closely followed by Aishwarya Rai, Madhuri Dixit and Kajol.
"The poll suggests that Indian women seek inspiration from well-known personalities. They idolise personalities who can strike the right balance between career and family, despite their celebrity status," Gourav Rakshit, chief operating officer of Shaadi.Com, said.
