Zee Media Bureau/Deepak Nagpal New Delhi: A day after an AIIMS doctor alleged that he was pressurised to show the death of Sunanda Pushkar, the wife of former Union minister Shashi Tharoor, as `natural`, Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan on Wednesday sought a report on the matter from the premier health institute. Dr Harsh Vardhan has asked the director of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, MC Mishra, to present him a report following allegations by the hospital`s chief forensic doctor, Dr Sudhir Gupta, that he was pressured by top officials to doctor post-mortem report of Sunanda Pushkar, who was found dead inside a Delhi hotel on January 17 this year. "I have asked the director of AIIMS, Dr MC Mishra, to submit an official report to me regarding this matter," said the minister. Harsh Vardhan further said that Dr Gupta had also given a presentation regarding his promotion, soon after he assumed charge as the Union Health Minister. Dr Gupta made the allegations in a letter written to the Health Ministry and the Chief Vigilance Commission. Dr Gupta alleged in the letter that he was targeted for not giving in to the pressure and said in his report that Sunanda died of drug poisoning. Dr Gupta further alleged a "malafide agenda to oust me as Head of Department" which he said "have genesis in the cases of Sunanda Pushkar and Nido Tania since I had taken a professional and ethical stand which went against the vested interests of certain persons in AIIMS". Prior to her death, Pushkar had been involved in a Twitter scandal allegedly involving her husband Shashi Tharoor and Pakistani journalist Mehr Tarar.
