New Delhi: As the controversy surrounding Tarun Tejpal simmers, Home Ministry on Friday sought a report from Goa government on alleged sexual assault case against the Tehelka editor.
The National Commission for Women today Friday asked Goa Police to file a first information report (FIR) against Tarun Tejpal. Tejpal allegedly sexually assaulted a colleague in a Goa hotel where Tehelka had organised its Think fest early this month. The incident, which came to light Wednesday night, led to Tejpal stepping down from his post for six months.
Meanwhile, Tehelka magazine managing editor Shoma Chaudhury today said that Tarun Tejpal has not run away and is in the country. Speaking to reporters, Chaudhury said that the woman journalist had asked for an apology from Tejpal, which was given to her. “Tarun has even stepped down for six months,” Chaudhury said.
“A committee has been formed in accordance to Vishakha guidelines to enquire into the allegations and Tejpal would certainly reply to the queries of the body,” Chaudhury said.
