London: Google CEO Eric Schmidt has said that even despicable but legal information on Google’s search engine will be indexed to help track terrorism- promoting websites.
Schmidt had been asked to remove extremist websites from Google’s search engines during the Hay festival, The Guardian reports. According to the report, Labour politician Paul Flynn, called on Google to prevent searches listing sites for extremist groups such as the Islamist organisation Al Shabaab.

Schmidt defended listing of extremist websites in its search results during the literary festival as he said he believes that the indexing will help police track the extremists’ activity. Schmidt further said that the police can detect extremists through their internet activity as they leave a digital trail and their online presence can sometimes help in tracking them and their pre-planned terrorist activities.
