New Delhi: On the very first day of I/O developer conference 2016, Google announced that the consumer version of its much awaited Project Ara smartphone is ready to release in 2017.

The best part of this smartphone is that its hardware is as customizable as its apps.

In the conference the search engine giant has given an onstage demonstration to show how different parts-ranging from high powered lenses, speakers to glucometre for diabetes patients-can be swapped onto the back of this smartphone.

So, finally an Android smartphone with 5.3- inch display and swappable modules is all set to become a mainstream reality. Thanks to Google!
