New Delhi: Union Minister Kiren Rijiju had a narrow escape on Saturday when the helicopter in which he was flying from Arunachal Pradesh had to force land in Tawang due to bad weather.

The incident happened when Rijiju was returning from Tawang after visiting flood damage area this afternoon.


"While flying back above Bhutan weather turn very bad so we were forced to turn back and land in Tawang," Rijiju, the Union Minister of State for Home, said.


At least 17 people were killed when a massive landslide triggered by incessant rains hit a labour camp in Tawang district of Arunachal Pradesh yesterday.


Rijiju, who is an MP from the area, had visited the landslide affected areas and met families of the victims before returning to Guwahati en route Delhi.
