This was necessary since officials dealing with the militant groups were delaying the progress of negotiations, Zoramthanga told PTI here over phone from New Delhi where he landed last night.

He said NDA government was more sincere in peace efforts with insurgent groups than the UPA regime, but the peace process was moving in a slow pace because of the delay by the entrusted officials.

The former CM said that he would apprise the Centre of his meeting with the leaders of the National Democratic Front of Bodoland (Progressive) in the designated camp in Assam.

He said the NDFB faction, led by Dhiren Boro, had urged him to help in the progress of the peace deal with the Centre.

Zoramthanga said he was not an official interlocutor, but a go-between with the mission to establish mutual trust between the two parties.
