Koraput: A gun-making unit of the Maoists was busted and some weapons were seized by BSF personnel during an operation in Odisha's Koraput district, officials said on Tuesday.

Acting on intelligence inputs, BSF personnel had launched a search operation in Turukupadu and Matawalsa reserve forests on Odisha-Andhra Pradesh border under Pottangi police station jurisdiction, said DIG (BSF), JC Nayak.


Five country-made guns, 200 grams of gun powder, iron rods and gun-making materials were also seized from the site during the operation conducted on Sunday, he said.


The unit was suspected to have been in operation for quite some time, said a senior police official adding that search operation has been intensified in the area after the busting of the unit.
