The apex court has directed theMedical Council of India (MCI) to review the status of the colleges and submit a report. The verdict came after MCI moved the apex court following the Orissa High Court's verdict.

The Hi-Tech Medical College in Rourkela had earlier moved the High Court, challenging the MCI order disallowing admission in the MBBS and BDS streams this year citing lack of adequate infrastructure.
