As soon as the House began its session, Speaker V Sabhapathy made obituary references to former president APJ Abdul Kalam and paid rich tributes to his contributions in the field of science and missile technology. He said that the death of Kalam was an irreparable loss.

Speaker also made obituary reference to former health and cooperation minister S Dakshinamoorthy who was a member of the Representative Assembly in Puducherry in 1950s.
