Chandigarh: Expressing concern over the use of sophisticated weapons by terrorists, Punjab Governor Shivraj V Patil on Friday stressed on keeping defence forces modernised by equipping them with modern weaponry. "Machines and modern equipments are helping human beings to be more capable in using natural resources, handling rough weather and tough situations in a better manner. "In this respect, those who are out to create trouble are going to use modern equipments to achieve their nefarious objectives. That is why, it is necessary to be vigilant at all times and keeping our forces modernised and better equipped," the Punjab Governor said while addressing a workshop `Digital Eye - Real Time Border Surveillance` here. "Proxy and hidden wars need to be taken more seriously and should be tackled with modern concepts and weapons," he said, adding that the fences erected on the borders have helped in containing criminal activities. "But those who are inclined to continue their criminal activities are trying to adopt new methods of causing harm and damage to the interests of our country. Our forces need modern equipments to deal with such situations in an effective manner," he said.
