Nashik: Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray today lauded Nashik Municipal Corporation for successfully conducting the ongoing Kumbh Mela here and at Trimbakeshwar.

Kumbh, which is world's largest religious fair of Hindus, witnesses millions of devotees thronging the ghats to take holy dip and visit the mega congregation.


"NMC officials have done a good job. They have successfully organised the (Kumbh) mela," Thackeray said while speaking at the launch of a mobile app and Smart City website here.


The party chief launched the mobile application of the civic body which will enable users to file complaint regarding civic problems through the app by sending photos, videos etc. Users can even pay civic body related taxes through the app.


It will also contain information, details on the status of various developmental projects.


Thackeray, whose party controls the NMC, said there is a transparency in the civic body's working which has led to initiative like the mobile app.


He said the city will have a number of new development projects in the coming days.


City mayor Ashok Murtadak, deputy mayor Gurmeet Bagga, NMC commissioner Praveen Gedam, and others were also present on the occasion.
