Kabul: At least seven persons, including a district intelligence chief, were killed in a Taliban attack in Afghanistan`s Sari Pul province on Monday, a local official said.

"Sharraf Uddin, intelligence chief of Sangcharak district, was killed along with his deputy and three security force members following a militants` attack on Monday afternoon," an official told Xinhua.

A local leader, accompanying the targeted officials, and a child were also killed in the gun firing, he added.

Taliban insurgents claimed responsibility for the incident.
