Karachi: One of the most wanted and feared dacoits in Pakistan's southern Sindh province has been killed by police, ending a reign of terror over the last two decades.

Nazroo Narejo was killed in an encounter with police near Shikarpur town yesterday after surviving dozens of such skirmishes in the last 20 years in the interiors of Sindh.


A senior police official said two policemen and two associates of Narejo were also killed in the clash.


Sukkur SSP Tanveer Ahmed Tunio said there were over 200 cases of heinous crimes, including dacoity, highway robbery, kidnapping for ransom, murder and attacks on police against Narejo and his accomplices in various police stations in several districts of Sindh.


Narejo also carried a reward of Rs 20 million on his head.


He became known as the 'King of Dacoits' in Sindh and those close to him even claim he had studied sociology at the University of Sindh in the 1970s before turning to a life of crime and terror.
