Chennai: As the city was limping back to normalcy, there is fresh threat of flooding in parts of Chennai after authorities released more water from the Chembarambakkam Lake.
As per ANI, authorities have discharged surplus 5000 cusecs water from Chembarambakkam Lake.
They have advised people living in low-lying areas along River Adyar to move to safer places as water discharge could inundate several areas again.
Areas which face threat of fresh flooding include Varadarajapuram, Pammal, Mudichur, Manapakkam and Kotturpuram.
The Chembarambakkam reservoir has been overflowing due to heavy rainfall in Tamil Nadu over the past few days.
The death toll in rain-related incidents in the state crossed 100 on Thursday even as parts of capital Chennai received fresh rains with the Northeast monsoon becoming active.
