Chennai: Heavy rains continued to disrupt normal life in Tamil Nadu on Sunday.

Incessant rains and heavy winds have been battering the state for the last few days.


There have been reports of water-logging at various places. Schools and colleges have been shut down as a result of the inclement weather.


So far, 55 people have died because of the heavy downpour.


Director of Regional Metrological Department SR Ramanan said that since the cyclone currently rests near Sri Lanka, heavy rains will continue for the next three days in Tamil Nadu


Fishermen have been advised not to venture out to sea along and off north Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and adjoining Pudukkottai and Ramanathapuram districts of south Tamil Nadu.
