Not interested in doing moral policing, no ban on mini skirts in discotheques: Chandigarh Home Secy

Chandigarh: As the news of Chandigarh banning short skirts in discotheques spread like fire, Home Secretary Anurag Agarwal, Wednesday, clarified that the administration doesn't intends to do moral policing and no such policy has been approved.

Clarifying the administration’s stand, Agarwal said, “Not interested in doing moral policing,” adding that the administration doesn't want to interfere in what people want to wear.

“No dress code has been prescribed,” Agarwal said on reports of skirt ban at discotheques in Chandigarh.

Earlier reports were doing rounds that the Chandigarh administration has decided to ban short skirts in discotheques.

A policy called the "Controlling of Places of Public Amusement, 2016" came into effect on April 01, which directs bars in Chandigarh to shut by midnight instead of 2 am, reports said.

The policy also stated that "scantily dressed women" or any "indecency" could lead to closure of discos.
