The launcher is said to be US-made.

"We have recovered equipment (from Jawahar Bagh) which says 'Launcher, Made in USA'. It is being verified," Mathura's new Senior Superintendent of Police Babloo Kumar said, as per ANI.

However, later, Hari Sharma, IG, Law and Order (UP) denied the report.

"No rocket launcher was found at Mathura violence spot, it is a tear gas gun," he said.

Meanwhile, bowing to Opposition demand, Uttar Pradesh government yesterday ordered judicial probe into last week's violence.

The probe will be conducted by a retired judge of Allahabad High Court Imtiyaz Murtaza and the inquiry committee has been asked to submit its report within two months.

Mathura SP Mukul Dwivedi and SHO Santosh Kumar Yadav were killed in the clash between the police and encroachers that broke out in the city on June 2 when police tried to evict illegal occupants, believed to be of Azad Bharat Vidhik Vaicharik Kranti Satyagrahi from Jawahar Bagh on Allahabad High Court orders.

Ram Vriksha Yadav, who had led the encroachers, was among those killed in the clash with the police.
