New Delhi: Irked over the death of a four-year-old girl who was not provided first aid at the District Hospital in Hathras and was referred to Aligarh, the National Human Rights Commission has issued a notice to Uttar Pradesh government to look into the matter and submit an Action Taken Report within four weeks. The Commission has taken suo motu cognizance of media reports that the girl was not provided the first aid at the District Hospital in Hathras and was referred to Aligarh, minutes after which, she lost her life. Her condition deteriorated after taking some medicine prescribed by a quack in the village and was taken to the District Hospital. "The contents of the media reports, if true, amount to serious violation of human rights of the victim, particularly by the doctor on duty, who did not give first aid and the district health authorities, who failed to check the quacks practicing in the area," observed the Commission. The Commission has issued a notice to the Director General Health Services, Government Uttar Pradesh directing him to look into the allegations made in the press report and submit an Action Taken Report within four weeks.
