The Lucknow Bench of the court also imposed a cost of Rs 25,000 on the petitioner.

A division bench comparising Justices Imtiyaz Murtaza and Shri Narain Shukla passed the order on a PIL filed by one Rajendra Prasad.

The petitioner contended that Shivpal's appointment as Chairman of the Corporation was not valid.

"We reach the inescapable conclusion that petitioner's conduct of filing the petition cannot be approved. We dismiss the petition with cost of Rs 25,000," the Bench said.
